Ramayana, an Indian epic that centered around the life of Lord Rama. This religious epic glorified him as the Maryada Purushottam, which means one who is best among all men. There is no doubt in the prior statement. In actuality, he was one of the greatest man who was abiden by his duties and dharma throughout his whole life without quivering through his path. But what if we look at his life from non identical spectacles that gives us more rotational views about his character and dharma. Will he be the same Maryada Purush in this new view? Let's find about this.

Since mata Sita were the closest to him and somehow played a crucial role in Ramayana, so I shall start from her. My question about lordess Sita is why she only had to go through the fire test? Why Sita did not demand the fire test for Lord Rama? If Rama was the ideal man who couldn’t deviate from his duties as a husband then Sita was also true sati, who waited with her unwavering pledge and hope, then why this disparity? Even after passing the fire test, when the society of Aryavarta questioned her character, then why didn’t lord Rama stand by her side? On the flip side, she never left him even in his adverse situations. Then why Lord Rama, the Maryada Purushottam didn’t answer them with his unquestionable knowledge? Wasn’t he convinced enough to answer them, even after the fire test? I am sure, if Mata Sita were asked to prove her holiness through any other test then she would have done it happily without questioning the dharma and duties of Maryada Prushottam Rama.

Even when we observe today’s society, we find every woman in the same situation as Sita was at that time. Today, we always question women instead of pointing out the mistakes of men. Recently, I watched a short interview of the lawyers who defended the convicts of Nirbhaya, in the interview he was questioning the victim girl. He said why she was away from her home at the mid-night instead of accepting the faults of our patriarchal society where we don’t teach our men, how to behave with women. This shows that we are living in the same orthodox society that existed at the time of Lord Rama. Now is the time to be the Real followers of Rama by making up the mistakes that he did and change our perspectives about the women. As someone has said, “Women are the real architects of society”. So we need to empower the women to build an empowered world to live in.
